Looks like about time for reviews of the 2010 SNCA. I’ll certainly try it, but how does it rate to past years?

Good as always. It’s one of my favorite American IPAs, so nicely balanced.

I picked up a six pack last week and had one last night. I think it’s a little better this year than last.
A nice reddish amber color with plenty of hop flavor and aroma. Highly recommended!

SNCA is still my favorite of all the commercial IPAs currently out there in an increasingly crowded field. From year to year, I’ve always looked forward to it and it has never been a disappointment.
Great stuff…nice to see its early arrival in NJ this year!
Yeah, I am sure it is not as good as last year, just like every year’s new release. 
2010 is fantastic, I look forward to it every year, and am rarely disappointed.
I’ve already killed half the 2 sixes I got, and I’ll probably grab at least a case more.
Classic American IPA, nuff said.

I just tried Celebration and Torpedo side by side. Torpedo is my choice, hands down. It’s more complex than Celebration.
Celebration has prettier packaging though.
Tried it along side the '09. Obviously fresher, but the flavor is almost identical. Personally I find Sierra Nevada’s hoppy beers to have something unpleasent and harsh about their bitterness. I will decent and say that I am not a fan - obviously well made, but there are other IPA’s i’d rather drink.
I wonder if this has something to do with cohumulone levels. Sierra uses whole hops - do whole hops have more cohumulone then pellets… I am really just being random here with trying to identify the reason for the unpleasent bitterness, but is somehting I find pervasive amongst Sierra’s hoppy beer.
its not whole hops vs. pellets. I don’t think its possible that any taster could consistently pick out a whole hop vs. pellet hop beer.
what you’re probably not liking (which you were on the right track with cohumulone) is the Chinook bittering hop, which they use heavily in Celebration and Bigfoot. Its one of the things I actually enjoy about those beers!
This is one of my favorites as well. Hope they have it at the glass house
