I know most of us know or have heard of Mike “Tasty” McDole. A truly great homebrewer and even more important a truly great person. Now is the time to keep Tasty in your thoughts…posted on FB
This is Mike’s son Lee McDole, posting on his behalf. As many of you know, dad was diagnosed with cancer about a year and a half ago. I wanted to give everyone a brief update on his status. Over the past few months his health has slowly declined as he faced several setbacks, mostly as side effects of the chemotherapy he was receiving. Unfortunately these setbacks have cascaded, and he has recently transitioned to hospice care at home. My brother Mark and I are both here with him. Dad’s not taking visitors at this time, but I’ll make every effort to share any comments on this thread or sent to me directly, with him.
I’ve never met Tasty, but I have learned a lot from him. He has brought me many laughs and smiles along with great brewing knowledge over the years of listening to him on the BN.
My thoughts are with Mike, his family, and friends.
I was trying to decide what to brew next… now I know… It will be a Janet’s Brown Ale. Sad news to hear. Tasty had a profound affect on the home-brew world.
Tasty will be missed. He provided a lot of insight to the hobby. His “fast lager” technique was something new I tried after hearing about it at a Homebrew Con and talking to him about it.
