A Tasting Tour of Yorkshire’s Beers and Ales

An interesting article in the travel section of last Sunday’s New York Times:

By Evan Rail. Makes me want to go to Yorkshire.

Black Sheep is just a great tour. The fermenters are really amazing, and if you are fortunate, one will be roused. Smells like dark fruit and roses.

If you are near Goodmanham Arms - it’s just a wonderful little CAMRA certified place across the street from a Norman church and cemetary. Really neat - and usually a few classic motorcyclists hanging around. And - they serve a small batch cask ale brewed locally on a half barrel system… the style rotates. Everything on cask and amazing food.

I’ve been to York several times, but I’ve wanted to get out in the countryside in Yorkshire. There are so many places to go in England, though. York is well worth a visit, but I really want to go to Masham now.
