This came in my AHA newsletter today. Anyone ever use one? It looks really cool. $90 is a little steep but if it works as well as it looks, then it might be worth it.
This is an old product that is being rebranded. The big problem with the old version from what I hear is that the port at the bottom was too small and would get horribly clogged up and you either couldn’t get the yeast out or the yeast couldn’t get it to the little harvest thing.
They claim to have made the port bigger so it might work. I’m happy with my buckets though.
How do you keep it cool? It hangs on a wall. Most ferm chambers aren’t big enough for it.
Optional stand, at least it had one in the past. Could also build something.
Even with the stand it is too tall. My ferm chamber is only 26" deep. The fastrack is 39" according to the website. I am not sure if the 39" includes the stand or not.
I’d really rather have something that you can set on a surface and move easily. I move fermenters around for cleaning, filling, bottling, etc.
How many gallon is it?
7 gallons
Yeah a bunch of these would be cool if you had a walk in ferm chamber that could fit them. Ill stick to carboys/buckets for now.
Plastic ball valve is not sanitary. Would have to be replaced regularly.
Just watched the video (flashing big ad here on the forums) and I really love it. Sadly, there is no way I could keep this thing cooled.
If you can’t disassemble a ball valve on the fermentation side it is a major infection risk. You simply can’t clean them.
Couldnt you autoclave a SS 2piece to sterilize it?
Sure, but this is plastic. You can’t even boil it.
Now that I have had my coffee… Many stainless ball valves have plastic seals inside the valve that won’t survive heat exposure. So be ware.
Looks like a pretty cool product and an interesting concept. I’m all about carboys but, figured I would give these a shot. Once I get them and ferment a few brews with em I will gladly post about it.
