Anyone here keg drectly from a Speidel?

I can’t find the right size tubing that fits the spout and a ball lock QD.  Do I need to use two sizes with some type of diffuser and two sizes?

You might just need to use tubing large enough for the spout and clamp it down on the QD. I have a couple of QD’s with flare to 3/8" barbs.

I use a silicone tube that fits perfectly.  It looks to be a 3/8 i.d…  here is how I transfer under CO2 pressure:

Brilliant, thanks Steve.  That looks simple enough.

Same thing I do. Very simple. Make sure you take your airlock off though or it will suck through every ounce of vodka or sanistar you’ve got in there.

I use two different sizes of tubing and I use a barbed reducing union to join the sections.

I don’t remember what sizes of tubing I used, but I got the barbed union from us plastics web site I think. I also have to use clamp on the tubing that connects to the spigot, since it was just not tight enough for my liking.

That’s the ticket right there, I think I’ll I need is a barbed QD to fit the 3/8 silicone tubing to go into the keg. I worry about the barbed reducer getting clean enough after use, and having one clean open line would be better.

While it wouldn’t be my first choice, the barbed coupler is likely the easiest link in the chain to clean and inspect.

Check Home Depot. They sell nylon barbed fittings. Local Ace stores are a good choice too.

For a year or so, there has been a metal spigot available from MoreBeer. I think it is from Speidel, but I am not sure of the manufacturer. It has a longer snout for connecting the hose and is sized for 3/8" plastic hose, which fits nicely with no need for hose clamps. This solves the problem.

I upgraded my speidel using a ss spigot like this post:
