I have three nights in Barcelona followed by four in Rome coming up in September. Any suggestions for beer/breweries in either or both cities?
Nobody? Guess I’ll have to blaze a trail…
There’s a thread in the general section that links to these in Barcelona
Personally, the wine is so good and inexpensive in Spain that I don’t seek out beer. But it looks like Napar and Brewdog are pretty close to each other, so maybe next trip there I’ll check them out.
Barcelona is one of my favorite places in the world, enjoy.
My Rome trip was before craft beer in Italy. The wine was pretty good.
Hi,
I am from Barcelona and I will be happy to show you some places here. The craft beer scene is increasing a lot of and we are brewing good quality beers.
My first choice is BierCab. NaparBCN is also good.
Let me know what are you looking for.
Regards
César!
Awesome, I will certainly be reaching out!!!
So I’m back from Barcelona and Rome and will eventually update my thought on Barcelona. In the meantime let’s talk Rome. I did not find any appreciable craft beer presence in Rome. I did see one listing for a local APA on a menu, but it was 12 euro and I didn’t feel like shelling out almost $15 for a bottle or can of unknown APA. I ordered a Ceres Stout at one place, but of course it was from Denmark. I did a few specialty Morettis, but they were nothing to write home about. There were a few beers here and there, but most of the list were not Italian beers. At least the food was wonderful and wine was flowing.
Forgot to add my comments.
Barcelona is a beer city with craft beers easily found.
BierCaB is a must. We sat with gentlemen from Belgium at the community table and some others from the US on a beer tour.

La Menuda is another must for the beer lover. Service was on the slow side, but the food was great as were the beers.

There are several breweries/brewpubs in the area, but we spent more time at the sights as this was not a beer centric trip. Often the hole in the wall place would have something local and if all else fails order a pitcher of sangria.
Good info and useful thread. I’ll be in Barcelona in a week. César, are you still around? I’ll buy you a beer!
Amazing football (soccer) match between Rome and Barcelona last night! 8)
