It was supposed to be a bit of harmless fun, but a beer drinking festival in Spain had a sickening finale on Wednesday after the winner downed one glass too many.
I love the quote in the comments “European beer is so much stronger than American beer, better, too.”.
But, as was also mentioned, drinking that much of anything in 20 minutes is seriously dangerous. Let alone beer.
i can’t read the whole story but drinking plain water in vast quantities rapidly can kill you. leads to rapid hyponatremia (low sodium) brain swelling and death.
The article said the man was morbidly obese. He may have gone into cardiac arrest without the beer.
Six liters is only about a gallon and a half. What a pussy.
First, let me say that a beer drinking “competition” is one of the stupidest things I’ve ever heard of. Beyond that, I’d guess he had some underlying health problem that exacerbated things, but I’ve gone into a-fib by drinking 6 beers in 1.5 hours. Of course, I have underlying health issues, too. I hope that some good can come of this by people realizing what a stupid fucking thing it was to do in the first place.
+1. Not just the quantity, but the quantity in a short amount of time. More or less a giant beer bong. You gotta live to fight another day.

Until recently my Kegorator was 80" from my favorite seat. I moved it behind the weight bench after seriously considering moving the fridge right next to the couch. ;D
You know what, you have to be healthy to drink beer. All beer belly jokes aside as Denny said A-Fib will be your end. Be a REAL MAN and listen to your body. We don’t want a body count we want to count on you as a body that we count on.
Yeah, I’m no stranger to overdoing it once in a while but I never understood drinking “competitions”. That’s not enjoyable to me, and enjoying yourself should be the whole point in drinking.
This is why they put that warning at the beginning of “Beerfest”
There’s no way those guys in beer rest could drink that much beer,let alone piss that much out in one sitting.
