My wife and I are just finishing a beer trip across Iceland…
…and it has been awesome. I am mightily impressed with the quality of craft beer in a country that only legalized beer in 1989! The everyday lagers are great, but my favorites have been the Kaldi tripel, Einstok toasted porter, and Garun imperial stout. But I really haven’t had a bad beer yet, which seems pretty amazing for a country with no beer history. Since I’ve never seen beer from Iceland for sale in the US, thought I would pass this nugget of knowledge along.
i only stopped over in iceland, but comparably perhaps in denmark - there really werent any bad beers in a noticeable way. as in even a basic low-price lager didnt have off notes or DMS and stuff like you’d get in randomly selected shelf beer in america or canada.
but yeah i remember hearing they only legalized beer recently, pretty crazy
