The past few batches i have done have been coming out cloudy. Recipes are the same, only difference is i installed a second charcoal filter inline. could this be the culprit?
Hows the pH checking out?
5.5
Infected?
And I hope the filter is for the water…
Perhaps you have removed too much calcium from the water, creating a longer time period needed for yeast to flocculate. An issue of Zymurgy just discussed this side effect of low calcium concentrations in beer.
Hopefully, you can chill it out after a while. Cheers.
If the filters are only carbon filters, there should be sufficient calcium, but if RO or ion exchange, it could be low in Calcium. Martin would be able to give a better response, if you know anything about your water content. You can submit it to Ward Labs for analysis to know where you are starting with your water…to get a baseline.
