Thinking of cracking this tonight.
Let us know if you like it. I havent been overly impressed with any of the Bells beers that I’ve tasted. It might just be me though (I’m old and picky).
IMO, they really nail the darker styles. Expedition is fantastic, and I also enjoy Kalamazoo, Double Cream and Porter. I have one bottle of 2012 left of Expy. Might crack that in the next week or so.
Cheers!
Totally agree. Those are most of my favorite Bell’s beers. Double Cream is pretty underrated and Expedition is terrific.
I’ve got a couple bottles of Ommegang on deck and then it’s the Expedition.
I picked up a 6 pack about a month ago. I drank one right away. It was good, but certainly would be better with age. I plan on collecting for a six year vertical her in about six years
It gets better after a year
Personally, I think it’s borderline pricey at $17 + tax. To me, it’s good but not great. The abv is it’s saving grace which puts into the BUY category for me.
Expedition stout has to be my favorite stout of all. Its balanced well, not too hoppy not too sweet. IMO it has the perfect body and mouth feel. Second is czar by Avery.
I thought it tasted Fantastic fresh b
I’ve got some expedition aging in the basement. It may be time to give it a try. I believe it’s from 2014.
Bells Porter is one of my favorites. I bet that is pretty god as well. Agree they do the dark styles well.
I just happen to be drinking this right now. It’s good fresh, but the anise seems to be more pronounced in the 15’ batch. I’m not much of a fan of anise, so I think the 14’ is much better… guessing the year cellaring is definitely worth it.
