I use a 15 Gallon pot for BIAB, and my wort chiller is only 50% submerged into hot wort on a typical 5-6gallon batch. So would it be OK to open the ball valve right after flame out and run my wort (through silicon tubing) into a 6 gallon pot I have. This way I don’t have a huge hot pot, and my wort chiller will be fully submerged. I know the wort is very susceptible to bacteria and/or oxidation, but my cooling time has just been taking too long and too much ice! Ideas? Thanks

Are you recirculating the ice water through the IC?
No, I just use a bottling bucket filled with ice water (or partially frozen from throwing the entire bucket into my ice chest) run it through the IC. It comes out boiling hot, which I usually just leave for the end of the brew day to clean/water plants. I’m glad you don’t think it will be a problem, I think it will save me a ton of time and $.
Or you can put your chiller inside a garden hose and drain your hot wort thru the inside of your chiller while running cold water thru the garden hose. ;D
You can save some ice by starting with tap water to get you down to ~80-90 which should only take about 5 minutes if you stir. then switch over to the ice to get yourself down to pitching temps.
