I would assume the bags that you buy for BIAG can only be used once> Is that correct?
I’ve used mine probably 20 times each. I reuse them until they eventually spring a leak, no problem at all (until then).
Thanks.
I use mine until they spring a leak. Then I sew the hole shut and use it some more!
If you get a quality, custom-made bag (like from bagbrewer.com), you can get years of use with proper care. I squeeze the snot out of mine and it’s still in great shape.
If you use a less durable bag (I used this one for a while: Stirring & Straining Tools for Homebrewing ), then I’d recommend to always keep a backup on hand. They tend to break at the most inopportune moments. After tearing a couple of bags, I decided to drop the money on a higher quality bag.
Great call!
I use a nylon grain bag I bought in 2010 and still use it. Granted, I only use it on 1-2 gallon batches but it has held up without a problem except for the hole near the mouth I accidentally burned.
Yeah good bags last a long time. Mine seems like new (besides color) and it’s a year old.
you can get a real nice one at www.brewinabag.com
