I’ve never used biscuit malt and I was wondering which biscuit it tastes like. In the UK, biscuits are what we call cookies here in the US, but here, biscuits taste like, well, muffins sorta?
I’ll assume that the malt originated in Europe, so does it have a cookie-like flavor or more of a KFC biscuit flavor?
To me, way more of a ‘KFC biscuit’ flavor as opposed to a sweet cookie. It’s toasty in sort of a pleasantly sharp way. If you’ve used Maris Otter malt, picture that type of toasty character.
Hoosier has never had an english biscuit. 
They aren’t very sweet and that’s more what it tastes like to me. KFC biscuits taste like artificial butter and shortening. Just sayin’.

Yeah, evidently ! Times used biscuit malt - tons. Times eaten English biscuits - umm…zero.

English biscuits are dry, crumbly, barely sweet, thick, and pretty bland. Not anyway I can see them being enjoyable. Kinda like a cookie but without a lot of sweet. They have a wheat/bran like flavor.
I’ll add that to me biscuit malt is kinda like the flavor of maris otter only intensified. Kinda like melenoidin malt is to Munich.
That’s exactly how I think of it:
Biscuit and Victory = amped up MO
Melanoiden and Aromatic = amped up Munich

Funny they seem quite popular in the UK, last time I was there seemed most markets had a whole aisle of biscuits. The blander ones “Rich Tea” come to mind, are mainly for dunking in tea, they even sell them in our local calif market. Try some garibaldi’s, Jaffa cakes, Hob nobs, I’ll think you’ll find they are not so bland. They don’t tend to use as much sugar as we do here in most things, maybe that why they live a year and a bit longer than us Americans.
