Bottling question

We bottled our second brew, tonight.

Our bottling was a lot messier than last time, the end of the bottle filler fell off into one of the bottles.
Does someone have a specific hack or fix for this?
Is there an upgrade from the bottling wand?

Yes, blichmann beer gun

Or consider a downgrade.  Skip the wand and spend $0.99 on one of these (you might already have one):

That requires a keg… he’s gravity filling from a bucket.

To be honest I don’t bother with a tube.  I have a bottling bucket with a spigot and just fill the bottles straight from the spigot.  Fill the bottle to about halfway up the neck and the foam runs out, cap on foam… boom.  I do one bottle at a time and cap each one immediately for as low oxygen as possible (I’ve seen people fill 10-20 and let them sit there and then cap them all at once… I’d rather not let them sit).

It is an upgrade though.

I’ve bottled about 4000 bottles with my old bottle wand from 1999.  If yours fell apart on the second batch, just get a new one of a different brand.  But, maybe they just don’t make 'em like they used to…

I used a bottling wand practically forever and never had issues, so I think that’s good advice.

I have a beer gun now, and the thing I like about it and the bottling wand is that when you fill the bottle and withdraw the wand/gun it leaves the correct headspace in the bottle. If I’m going to an event and just need to fill a couple of bombers I fill them out of the corny’s tap, and no such QC is possible.

I’ve had my bottling wand fall off more than once.  My remedy is duct tape.  Just jam the end of the sanitized bottling wand onto the spigot tip from the bottling bucket and tape it on.

Wipe the duct tape joint  thoroughly with sanitizer and you’re good to go.

Same here, no issues in 5 years.

I think they were saying that the TIP of the bottling wand fell off not the entire wand.  A duct taped wand tip would be a little hard to keep sanitary.
