We were approached by Brew Your Own magazine to write a feature about Low Oxygen brewing and we accepted. It will be released in the March/April issue in mid February and plan on have a Google Hangout Live Q/A to go along with it.
I might actually have to buy that copy, I could use (another) summary since my return to brewing has been further delayed.
Nice tease about the equipment. I’m curious about it, but also not. The wife has been very understanding about some of the large purchases I’ve made recently, but I don’t see more brewing gear being a sound investment at this point. Once I get the welder sorted I can hopefully make my own anyway.
The longer I’ve been brewing, the more I realize this is one skill I really regret never having acquired. Some of the best advice I’ve ever seen for beginners (they may not immediately see the connection) is, take a welding class!
Sticking the end of a spoon in an electric outlet at 2 years old made me much less scared of electricity than I probably should be.
I’m looking into that, however it seems my local community college requires so many prerequisites for their TIG course that it may be cost prohibitive to do so just for a hobby.
With all the great equipment options out there today, I definitely don’t think a welder is worth the investment for homebrewing. The welder is more to feed my car hobby, being able to work on some homebrewing gear is just a nice perk.
I look forward to reading that. All I can say about TIG welding, watch a video and begin. The purging and controls take a little bit. My TIG from the 70’s just smoked. It takes up a quarter of the shop. The new ones are carry-on size, w a Cadillac price tag. Anyway I look forward to the article. I’d be pretty proud of that. Prost!
How do you know? Have you ever done a triangle test with one coffee made by conditioning your beans before grinding, preboiling your water, and using a “mash cap” in your french press vs. another that has been oxygenated?
Guilty as charged. The only thing I know is that everybody recommends against reboiling water that you pour on coffee because it will make the coffee taste “flat”.
Just a head up today is the day. 1pm central. We will be streaming to Facebook live on the low oxygen brewing page, and on my YouTube page (the beerery) as well.
Hope to see you there.
