Hi everyone, new to the forum. So, is there any magic to using campden tablets? I crushed one, tossed it in my water, and the remains didn’t appear to have dissolved at all. Do they need to be crushed to dust or given a lot of time to dissolve?
I have a stainless steel tablespoon that I crush them in. I use the back of the teaspoon. I then stir in the powder. It’s all dissolved within a minute I would say.
I usually prepare my water the night before and toss it in then ( 1/2 tablet for my 5 gallon batch ). Usuallly it’s gone by morning.
They dissolve faster in hot water, so you could toss them in with the strike water as it’s heating up.
- 1 Very easy this way
Thanks for the replies. I’m guessing I didn’t crush it as fine as I should’ve.
