I didn’t know the Captain, but his guitar player Bill Harclerode (Zoot Horn Rollo, I believe) lives here in Eugene and played on several projects I produced.
RIP. Hoping that his life in the great hereafter is fast and bulbous.

Bongo Fury was a collaboration between Beefheart and Zappa, and my introduction to both of them. I play in a band, and for the life of me cannot memorize lyrics anymore… but after all these years I can still remember half the songs on that album…“the Muffin Man”, “Carolina Hardcore Ecstasy”…classics.
Loved the Captain…certainly not music for every taste, but he was a fearless artist.
I hope his trip to the mothership was a smooth ride…
I really need to get acquainted with the Captain. I’m sure I heard a few of his songs being I grew up in the Boston area back in the 60’s which were mostly dominated with Beatle songs.
