Whirlpool chiller + $15 submersible pump + 20lbs of ice = 58°F wort on a 100°F day
Nice! Not sure how you can bear to stand next to a boil kettle at 100F tho.
Jeff
As long as it’s 95% humidity at the time, I’m sure he’s fine.

It’s awful. I drink about a gallon of water through a brew day. It really makes it hard to even want to brew.
When I brew in the summer, I mash-in at 6:00am, done by noon!
I’m tempted to gloat about the last two 72F brew days I’ve had in Seattle, but that would be unkind…
What is the temp that early in the morning in NC? Here i am lucky if it is less than 80 with 70% humidity.
Enjoy it. Brewing in 27º weather will be here in 6-7 months

27F is far more enjoyable to me than 80F. I’ll even take 0F over 80F.

The brewing process throws far more heat then cool. I’ll take 27f over 100f ANYTIME
I try to enjoy it no matter the weather. Mr cup half full I guess.

Yeah, you’re my AHA role-model. Optimism and happiness can be practiced and learned, I think. Just like brewing.

But sarcasm and stoicism is so much more fun. :
I brewed on Saturday here in Des Moines. Started out around 65F, climbed to 85F and then had 1.5" of rain in 10 minutes. Then it got hot. Humidity was between 85% and 100% most of the day. Beautiful June weather in Iowa. My yard makes squishing noises when you walk on it after ~8"-9" of rain in 4 days.
I’d take 27F any day.

Agreed. I am usually mashing in at 5am. Both to beat the heat and the kids waking up…which results in a crazy environment. ha.
But…I would love to invest in a pump to cool with ice water. Good on ya. Cheers!
