Citradelic IPA

Having my first pint ( well 24oz for $5) new Belgium citradelic tangerine IPA.  Great aroma and taste…first impression is pretty tasty.

Sounds good. Don’t have to ask about the main hop there !

Thought it was ok for the price. Way more tangerine taste than any hops IMO.

So it’s tangerine flavored too, or just hops?

Tune in and hop out with New Belgium Citradelic. Set adrift on a kaleidoscopic wave of hoppiness brought to you by a mystical marriage of Citra hops and tangerine peel, which elevates each sip onto a plane of pure tropical, fruity pleasure. Citradelic’s namesake hop and fruit combine to jam with visions of additional hops like citrusy Mandarina Bavaria, tropical Azzaca, and fruity Galaxy for a colorful explosion that’s grounded by just a touch of malty sweetness. Bored by the status quo? Expand your palate with a pour of Citradelic. Launching January 2016.

If the tangerine peel were subtle and accented the Citra, Mandarina, Azacca and Galaxy, I’d buy it. I may try one anyway, if I can get it fresh.

Yeah tangerine peel is there but second fiddle to the hops IMO. It’s worth a try. I’d order again.

And yeah, the tangerine reminds me of mandarina.

Here’s the hop bill:
Nugget, Crystal, Centennial, Azzaca, Cascade, Citra, Chinook, Galaxy, Mandarina Bavaria, Simcoe

I like it. I thought the tangerine character melds well with the hop character but is not a primary component. It’s a nice contrast to Ranger as another year round offering.

Yeah I think the tangerine comes from the mandarina…tastes just like that vs. peel.

Great hop combo. The tangerine peel makes perfect sense. I’ll buy it. Can’t buy the grapefruit IPAs which I hear (some) are good because of a medication I take. This sounds good.

I’ll have to try it it. I saw it locally last week. $8.99 a six. New Belgium makes solid beers. Tough to beat Ranger as a classic IPA. I suspect this to be no worse than solid.

So when I read the name …I expected Citra bomb. But it’s not at all. Nice blend for sure.

I was very close to buying one of their gluten reduced beers tonight out of curiosity. I foresee drinking plenty of citradelic for years to come.

Just saw it at the grocery but passed because I was not beer shopping (wait, did I just say that?) I will have to try some out on the next pass through the store

Personally, I end up trying many more new beers at the tap vs. stumbling across it at stores. Tonight it was $5 for 24oz so come on, how bad can that be to try [emoji51]

No kidding. I am lucky to get 16 oz for $5 these days.

I hear you Ken,  but in the last 5 years, my drinking habits have changed from 90% I’m bars to 95% at home. When I am out, I never seem to find great beer selection on draft and price is not usually good. Luckily, I’m a home brewer now. [emoji16]

Yeah my bar scene consists of food places that have a bar Frank [emoji51]

Often we go to winking lizard and panini’s around here- two local chains with great food and beer variety.
