Hey guys/gal’s - thinking of starting to do closed transfers. What size of co2 container would I need? 10 or 20lbs? I already have a 10lbs on my kegorater but wanted a separate tank just for closed transfers and pressure fermentation later on down the road. Thanks for your thoughts.
If you have nothing holding it back, I’d go with 20. I have a 5 on my kegerator and a 20 for all the CO2 things.

I have a 5lb tank that I use to serve 5 kegs, clean kegs and do closed transfers. It lasts 3-5 months.
I spund all my beers and do a fermentation purge of the kegs so I imagine that saves some CO2.
A 10 pound tank will last…almost forever.
I’ve gone through many 20lbs in my day so I assure they don’t last forever! unfortunately.
I have three 20 lb. tanks here and two 5 lb. tanks. I use the 20’s for things like pressurizing the fermenter after dry hopping, purging kegs, and for close transfers. One is also used to serve the beer out of my keezer. They usually last a couple months before I have to refill them which is why I keep spares one around. The five pounders are only used to carbonate the beer in my lagering freezer because of space considerations.
IMHO, I would go with the 20 lb tanks for closed transfers so that you don’t have to refill them as often.
