Collecting data at NHC?

Hey, I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this question, but I couldn’t find a forum that seemed more appropriate.

I plan to bring at least one, potentially two, xBmt beers with me to NHC and I’d like to have conference goers participate.  As a first-time attendee, I’m not sure what the best approach to doing this would be and I’m curious if anybody might have any advice to offer? Worst case scenario, I invite interested folks up to my room. I guess I’m wondering if there might be some place and time where it’s cool if I share some beer with people and have them fill out a survey. Nothing flashy.

Thanks!

If you’re just looking for a relatively small group, set up a meet-up.  If you’re looking for a larger group, I guess you could set up a small session.  I’d be up for either.

Thanks! I don’t even necessarily care if it’s a group, I just don’t know if there will be a space for people to sit around and share beers (that’s not club night). The data collection part is easy.

I’d be in.  (Commenting to follow thread)

There’s plenty of homebrew being shared any time the hospitality suite is open. You shouldn’t have any problem finding volunteers.

Yeah, put the word out. Pick a time between conferences. When there tweet a place and time. I am in…

Awesome! I plan to regularly post what I’m up to on my FB page (Redirecting...), perhaps Twitter would be good too (same username there).

I’m always open to that sort of thing.

Steve

Last year at Grand Rapids a few of us on the forum got together at the end of one of the seminars in a seminar room that was open.  It was great to put faces to names and to meet the Forum Stars who attended.

I’m in.

I would really enjoy this!

Sweet!

If you’re looking for informality, the vibe at NHC is such that you could walk up to any group of people that don’t look like they’re not terribly busy (most people) and say ‘Hey, I have a beer and a survey. Want to try it and provide feedback?’ You could do this at the hospitality area, in club night (you don’t need a booth, just bring beer), while people are waiting in line to get into the banquet, as people are mingling outside the seminar areas, in the lobby, in the hotel elevator, as guys are waiting in line for the bathroom (women never have lines at NHC) … basically anywhere, anytime.

I have a picture of Randy Mosher at club night two years ago. He had a moving dolly with a keg and CO2 tank strapped to it and a picnic tap. It was a beer he created for a commercial brewery he’s involved in, and he was just walking around pouring samples. Super simple.

I can’t think of any way other than in your room.  We might have a chance to set up a forum meetup somewhere and you could probably do it there…if it happens.  But there’s been no discussion of htat so far.

This is exactly what I’m thinking, if this will work, I’m all good. Cheers, Jimmy!

I’m thinking I’ll bring bottles to make it easier during other times beer is being shared. Thanks, Denny.
