Corn Syrup

I was wondering if Corn syrup is good for priming bottles instead of using powder? Or as in my next question I am brewing a Chocolate stout and would like to us Hershey’s chocolate syrup to prime with!

No, you are better off using corn sugar or sucrose.  Corn syrup is not completely fermentable.

If the corny syrup is high fructose corn syrup you can assume that it is completely fermentable.  You would probably need to do a test to figure out how much chocolate syrup is needed for a good carbonation level.

If you’re talking corn syrup like Karo, avoid it. It has salt and vanilla in it.

There are different grades of corn syrup.  Some more fermentable than others.  I was given some that was used as a modifier for sauces.  It was like wet cornstarch.  It had little sweetness, and didn’t ferment much at all.  I stopped putting it in the boil and started adding it to mashes to use it up.
