Wow what an amazing treat this beer was! Picked one up from my local store that just got a case in stock. Poured a very opaque blackish brown with a thin, fizzy, tan head. The aroma was amazing smelling of licorice, dark fruits, and faint herbs. Medium body, chocolate, gingerbread, spices, dark fruits, and left flavors on the palate that seemed to last a lifetime. This beer is dangerously drinkable at 10%. I’m gonna have to stop in and pick up a couple more bottles to stash away as this one should age quite nicely. Beers like this are the reason I’m so happy to live in Colorado and have such great access to a huge variety of beers all over the world.
yeah, mon!! Struise rocks! I’m looking forward to a tasting being put on in a few weeks by a friend & fellow Hogtown Brewer, Jim Ritchhart.
The name of the event will be ‘Fade To Black’; as we will be starting with lighter Struise beers and working our way towards dark oblivion.

It’s been several years since I last had this but it must have been excellent because I still have the bottle! I’ll try and find it and post the pic soon.
