Last question (lord willing) before I get rocking here this morning…how less efficient will single crushed grains be in a BIAB vs double crushed? I have 3# of crushed which is like to use (organic) and 3 # of locally double crushed grain. I only need 3.5-4 # for the recipe (not home forgot).
Depends on the mill. If the mill is set well, a double crush should not be necessary.
Yep.
In general, I would say that your efficiency can increase by as much as 10-15% with a double crush if a single crush on the same mill is subpar. YMMV
There’s really no way of answering that. It depends on your system and process. It could range from 0 to a lot!
+1
Sounds about right to me. Before I got my own mill my efficiencies would run from 72% up to 86% depending on where I got my grain from.
