Driving a Dyson Ball

Anybody drive one?

So, the wife brings home a DC25 Animal for Christmas, and I am all sorts of wigged out that she spent that kind of coin on a vacuum! But hey…she “got it on sale”  ::slight_smile:

And yea, we do a lot of vacuuming, with five household pets.  We don’t have a lot of carpet, but many rugs and hardwood, and vacuuming was a real chore and took at least a hour and a half.

But, I now admit, this thing is so freaking cool, I really don’t mind the task anymore.
I kid you not, you can steer this sucker with your wrist and can get really good at it.
It fits right up against stuff, makes 90 degree turns, and sucks like a tornado.

I hope it lasts.

Mine is purple
but they look like this:

And ya’ll are thinking I coulda had a conical instead?

I was tempted to get one. Glad to hear a good (real) review. Ended up with a Roomba 530 myself- which is perfect for pet owners.

Hard choice conical vs vacuum. I guess you had to prioritize…

I was really hoping for a thread about Dyson spheres…

I read a profile of Dyson awhile back. Pretty interesting guy. Their first vacuums sold in the US were quieter, but apparently Americans equate loud with effective so they upped the volume.

It figures.  Rather than educate consumers we end up with a crappier product just to make people feel better about how well it works.  I hate that.

Of course, they do the exact same thing with sports cars.

Americans just equate noise with power.

Hey pinnah, We bought one of these (Dyson DC 25) for our Daughter for Christmas. Two dogs & a cat…  Thing works like a champ, REALLY!  Cheers!!!

Did you watch the all-electric drag racer videos?  I think someone posted them here, but I can’t figure out the right words to search.

No, but I was thinking about you boys shooting cats out of a cannon yesterday,
thinking, man Weaze could get into driving this ball.

Mine is just loud enough to tell the cats to vacate the house immediately!
It is an’merican model.  I think they are slightly bigger as well.

I have the regular purple pet Dyson. I just am amazed at how much dirt we track into the house. Not
to mention we live on a dirt road so there is silt everywhere. My two cats have been shedding their
winter coat for about 5 years now. I got nothing but praise for Dyson… This era’s Edison…

Anyone ever use the air blade hand dryer in public restrooms? That thing is awesome.

LMAO!!

Yep, this tool rocks.

I love it, I just wish they made it a little bigger to fit my meat hooks.   The blade-less fan is nice too, I’ve seen (and felt) them at the store.

Yes the fan is badass but sticker shock! Only $300 for a desk fan… :stuck_out_tongue:

That Dyson looks really cool. I was also looking at one these robots.

Same here-4 cats and we’ve got 80 acres of farmland across the street to the west so the dirt really piles up.  we’ve had our Dyson for at least 7 years now and it still does a great job.

Re: Roombas, the best tweet (twitter) I’ve ever seen had to do with a roomba and a pet. Wife tweets her husband, “Just came home. Dog had left a present on the floor just before the weekly deep cleaning cycle on the roomba. Yes, it’s everywhere.”

Just remember, “If mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy.”

If she is happy - you’re in the 50/50 range.

That was my first thought too.

SF geeks… go figure…

That is really good to hear.

:D, yea she is happy.  I am not too serious about those roller eyes.
Pretty good situation actually, “I” got her a dyson, and “she” got me a keg setup.
