I was going to give away an extra 10 gallon kettle I had lying around to someone local but wanted to make sure I don’t need it in the future.
I currently brew all grain with a different 10 gallon kettle and a rubbermaid mash tun. I also have a separate 10 gallon brew pot that just sat there on my last brew because I used a bucket and the other two pieces of equipment.
Can you think of any reason I would need an additional 10 gallon kettle?
You never know. I’d hang on to it. If you give it away–which is a nice gesture–you’ll be looking around, scratching your head, saying, where did I put that thing.
On the other hand, if you can use it to turn a friend on to brewing, you’ll be making the world a little better.
Sometimes I use another kettle for decoction mashes.
I’ve used a second boil kettle to boil down first runnings while still collecting the wort in the main kettle.
I collected too much wort once and boiled it down in two pots to save time.
You may want to brew one day and have a low country boil at the same time.
Just typing out loud…
