False Bottoms

I need a false bottom for my converted keg mashtun, my question is…climax vs jaybird??  ???

“climax vs jaybird??”

Huh?

climax vs. jaybird

I have no experience with either.

@ beveragebob…“climax vs jaybird”, meaning two different manufactures of false bottoms. Leaning towards climax because it’s much cheaper and looks to be made from the same thickness s/s.

Same gauge, same 3/32 holes on 5/32 centers. One $25 cheaper. If I wasn’t set up already, I know which one I’d go with… Here ya go, oscarvan…  8)

Yeah, I started looking harder at both and saw the the climax false bottom is put together with s/s bolt’s, the Jaybird is tack welded. Shouldn’t matter much I don’t think but Jaybirds false bottom is much prettier…lol. And the Climax false bottom has a bigger gap, read reviews saying no big deal but that could have been posted by the manufacture.

I vote for Climax…less money same design as my Sabco FB’s I use in both my mash tuns and boil kettles as a hopback both with precision tri clamp connect/disconect ss siphon tube.

Didn’t Freddy Mercury sing a song about False-bottom Girls?  (get on your bikes and ride!)

They make the rockin’ world go 'round!

hilarious!  this song and “her strut” pop into my head every now and then even though I haven’t listened to either song for at least 15 years (was just a skinny lad).

I think it is Fat bottom girls.

Yeah, it was Fat bottom girls…great song, great band…on the false bottom - I went with the climax, it seems pretty good haven’t used it yet just hope it supports a heavy grain load?

The grain should float, since it’s mixed in water.
The only issue with strength would be if you’re pumping too hard from under it.  Mine (Sabco) is a little bent from stress over the years.

The last FB I bought from Sabco came with adjustable/removable  stainless steel bolts on the bottom. I don’t do any pumping so there is no strain… thus, I removed the bolts.
