FastRack

I opened the FastRack add at the top of the forum. The idea seems great. I’ve done the same thing with some old plastic beer cases I own, but this looks much more slick. Anyone buy them?  I might be convinced to give up my bottle tree.

I looked at the add and like you I thought they look cool.  I hardly ever bottle anymore but I think I would buy a couple if I did.  My old bottle tree was a god send when I was given it but storing it was/is kind of a pain.  These would store easily on a shelf with everything else.

Yeah, if I didn’t have one this would win hands down.  Although, since I keg but still bottle some - the easy storage is part of what would convince me. The bottle tree is a big item that I don’t use often.

this is pretty cool, i use two old racks from an old dishwasher but this is a little smaller footprint.  if i didnt have the dishwasher racks i would consider these

I also like that you can just flip the whole lot over when ready to start filling.

Would it be just as effective to rinse, then store empty bottles upside down in a case box with 6-pack holders in it?

But you can’t dry them that way or the cardboard will disintegrate.

Okay fair enough. But what if I rinse, drain/dry, then store?

That’s exactly how I do it

Never really noticed the ads before, but you just got me to click on it.

Cool idea.

Yes, if you skip the part that makes them better - then they are not better.  ;)  I think the storage aspect is not the main selling point. If I were to sanitize and store bottles, I’d foil the tops and store them upright.

Touche, sir. Touche.

I’ve been eyeballing it, wondering if it would be a better choice than the bottle tree I currently use during the cleaning/draining/sanitizing process.

this would speed up bottling just because you don’t have to handle the bottles multiple times, just take the cane from one to the next then cap after

I don’t know how anyone makes a living selling gadgets to home brewers.  I am already envisioning drilling holes in some old plastic shelving that has legs attached.

That’s funny!  My first thought was I can make something like that.  ;D

The second thought was “I’ll get right on it.  As soon as I buy a router dovetail jig and build those nice wooden bottle cases I designed 11 years ago.”  ::slight_smile:

Paul

Save money that way - just like homebrewing.  ;D

Sadly this is another project that will have wait.  I think I got assigned the build on a replacement case for a set of bell chimes that was destroyed on a drumline trip.  On the upside, I may actually be able to sneek the dovetail jig in on the project.  8)

Nobody? http://www.blichmannengineering.com/

That’s funny, I thought about including Blichmann as an exception in my original post.  They do make some NICE stuff!
