ferment for 12 weeks

My copy of Experimental Homebrewing arrived the other day. It has a recipe for a California Magnum Blonde, the “simplest, cleanest, and most interesting beer…”.  It has pale malt, magnum pellets and US-05.  5% ABV, 45 IBU.

It also says: “Ferment in primary for 12 weeks.” Is this fermentation time correct? Why would one do this? And would it really make such a difference?

Seems like a typo to me. 12 days?

Well, it is “Experimental Homebrewing”  ;D

It’s not in the list on Book Errata | Experimental Brewing, that’s why I’m asking.

Should be 1-2 weeks.  Yet another typo to fix in the next printing.  Thanks for the heads up…we’ll add it to the list!

I’d be less afraid of 12 weeks than 1 week if I were forced to brew by a calendar

Ummm.  Unless they added it since you posted it is listed.

I sense a conspiracy. Now that server is down.  :stuck_out_tongue:

I think that’s just lightening fast updating on the website.

Yeah, we’ve updated it on the website now.  The book is now in its second printing (thanks to everybody for buying it up so fast!) and it looks like a lot of the errata will be corrected.  it might be too late for this latest one, though.
