Yike. Does this mean extra time at work?
So… Smoked porter brewing time?
We just don’t have to contend with forest fires in NC with the exception of some of the coastal areas. Every time I see stories of fire, landslide, earthquake, flood, tornado, severe drought, etc. it reminds me why I have no desire to live in places prone to those challenges.
I went through one hurricane in NC where the eye skirted the town I lived in and we received winds from three different directions in a 12 hour period. It tore the electrical meter off the house I was renting. I vowed never again. As soon as they say brace for a hurricane I fill up the car…
Usually for evacuation, this one is on the rez.
No kidding.
That sucks,Jim. I hope it stays clear of your area.
Lately our fire season has been March thu October. The up side is that our fire fighters are getting pretty good at what they do.
Please stay safe. I was a fire fighter in college in Kansas; worked too many grass fires. Went through the devastating fires here in Bastrop 4 years ago coming September. The forest it took out is still struggling to recover.
Hope it doesn’t get near you at all… scarey stuff.
No worries. I dont get that close. Mostly because I dont like to get sweaty
OK I’ll stop complaining about the many acres of swamp the beavers have created on our land. That has to be pretty anxiety inducing.
Ten days later, not getting better. I’m thinking about calling Red Adair.
We’re getting hit pretty hard by the fires in CA, but nothing like that. Burning Man could be smoky again.
Fortunately, CO is drought-free for the first time in six years.
Gotta add… Holy smokes!
We’ve had a few fires burning on the outskirts of LA for the past couple of weeks nad it’s killed the air quality in the whole basin. Sitting in my office I can usually see the mountains near my home - about 35 miles from my desk. The past two weeks I’ve been lucky to see downtown LA about 20 miles away.
Yesterday at noon the visibility here was 10 mi. By 5 PM it was down to 2. Today is even worse…looks like dusk at 10 AM.
That’s pretty awful. I don’t envy you guys. Be safe !
Today’s pretty good, but we had a couple days last week when I couldn’t see the mountains from my house in town. That’s about 7 mi.
And here in Florida we’ve been getting abnormal amounts of rain. I wish we could send some out west for you guys.
Worst here was the other day when we couldn’t see past 100 yards. It was like a foggy day at the beach but more orange and made your eyes sting
