I don’t like to use Magnum to bitter an AIPA. Switch that out for some more of your mix, and I’d say you have a winner.
Well, that, and get rid of the 30 minute addition, and use it to dry hop.

Out of curiosity, why don’t you like bittering an AIPA with magnum?

I don’t either and it’s becasue I don’t find Magnum aggressive enough for the kind of bittering I like in an AIPA.

I’d say CTZ, Centennial, or Summit.
I guess I am one who likes the less aggressive approach of magnum.
I really like magnum as a bittering hop in most of my American-style beers. It’s interesting to hear other opinions though.
I can see why others prefer a “more aggressive” hop - but for my tastes I like the smoother background bitterness. I feel it helps showcase the flavor and aroma hops better.

I use magnum as well in about 1/2 of my AIPA recipes, the other half is either Columbus or Chinook.
