french press hopping success

i saw the basic brewing video where they put hops and beer in a french press to add flavor and aroma.  it got me thinking. so I tried it. I have 5 gallons of american amber that is very low bitterness.  I poured that over some crushed simcoe pellets … maybe 1/4 oz … into a 32 oz hydroflask and left them in there for about an hour.  I then poured that into a french press and pushed the hops down and then poured.  the consensus was more flavor and aroma with some more bitterness.  I found it to be a good experience overall.

Doesn’t this leave you with a flat beer?

that was my concern too.  the video steeped the beer in the french press.  I steeped mine in the sealed hydroflask.  it lost some carbonation but not as much as i thought.
