Froze my lager in primary šŸ˜©

Hey guys! My temperature controller hooked up to my chest freezer stopped working all the sudden. Temperature dropped to 27 degrees. My lager was sitting comfortably at 55 degrees for only 3 days before this happened. Fermentation was not complete. Do I need to add more yeast? Did I kill my beer? Thanks in advanced

Warm it up and see if it reactivates. If it hasnā€™t frozen completely solid the yeast will still probably be alive. IOf it doesnā€™t work dump in 2 packets of dry lager yeast to get it going again.

Iā€™ll bet it fires right back up. These critters we employ are very resilient.

It will probably be fine.  I recently left a package of WLP830 overnight in my car.  It was crunchy with ice but not quite fully solid the next morning.  I warmed it slowly in fridge.  After only 6 hours on the stirplate it showed signs of life.

Ohhhā€¦I have done this twice. They both finished up great and tasted pretty good. Itā€™s amazing how forgiving beer can be.
