I noticed a bunch of weird poop-like material in my 1-pound bag of Ekuanot hops. It seems like it might just be hop resin, but I am pretty curious if anyone knows what it is or if anyone has seen this before.
Sad thing is that was probably included in your pound of hops

Could be. The hop hash I bought from YVH doesn’t look much like that. Probably is though.
Yep, that’s what it looks like to me.
Looks like some buildup off a machine fell off into the hops and made their way to your bag.
Probably nothing harmful but may not be something you want to use in beer. I’d contact hopsdirect and show them the picture. At a minimum you didn’t get a full pound of the hops you want. I’m sure they will send you some more hops to make it right.

Well, this is what they said in the email:
Thank you for your email. What you have found is all the lupulin hop oil residues off the belts during harvest. It’s very ugly, but will not harm the hops at all. I understand if you do not want to use your hops, I can send another pound out to you right away if need be.
Just for peace of mind, I’d still check for bones, haha! Chalk another example of great customer service from HD!
When I was sent the wrong hops, they said keep those, and sent the right hops. Good service.
