Going Fermometer?

I have just recently discovered the concept of Fermometers for your fermentation bucket or carboy. Is there anyone out there that has used these before and if so are they worth a try?

you mean the stick on LCD strips? I love them. I have one on every bucket. They are suprisingly accurate. The main drawback is that if you submerge one in water for an extended period it will stop working. but they only cost a couple bucks so…

I buy them a few at a time so I always have one around if I get a new bucket or carboy or something.  I use them on all of my fermenters, and I’m thinking about getting some for kegs too.

I like them, have them mounted on my buckets.

As was stated, if you use a water bath for temperature control, you’ll want to make sure you mount the thing horizontally above the water line.

I’ve also got a few from the fish section of the petstore (from when I really wanted to check the temp and didn’t have access to my not-so-local HBS for a day or two). Cheap and bright, but mine only go down to 64F.

thanks for the help, I will definantly be trying it out!!

Good to know.  I’m going to go put clear boxing tape over all mine now.

Suprisingly accurate.  I’ve verified their accuracy with a thermapen.  They are a lot better than trying to measure the temperature by opening your fermenter and putting a thermometer probe into the beer.
