good deal on a 5lb co2 tank - what is a good deal on a used tank?

Hi everyone

Looking through raigslist … California…  Fresno/ Sacramento area  or in between

for used co2 tanks…

Im looking at a used 5lb tank full and ad state:
I am selling a 5 lb co2 tank which is full and in date for $75 (not negotiable)

**What is a good price on a used co2 tank " full or empty" ? **

I dont want to over pay.. Im new to kegging by way. .I know size is a considerations but was thinking starting off witha 5lb  and then go bigger if i need to…

That’s is a bit less than what you would pay at a gas dealer for a full steel tank. Last tank I bought was a 10lb steel for $95 filled, I think the 5lb was $85. This was a few years back.

Call your local AirGas and ask what they charge. AirGas also allows upgrading to larger tanks for the difference in price.

For my money, it’s not worth the extra $$ for a shiny new tank.  You’ll wind up swapping it out at some point anyway.  Get a used one.

I think I bought my 5 lb aluminum (new, but I didn’t know better at the time) fro $80.  But that was maybe 8+ years ago.  Maybe more than that.

Update:

I ended up getting it…

Its used/ mint condition  and made of aluminum +  full of co2

for $75.00  I did call a local  co2 tank supplier/ exchange…  they wanted 108+
