No, I don’t mean search on ‘Beer’ in Google… drink it up.
Hey Drew, can you share a beer virtually?

For the love of Gambrinus, make it stop…
I like Sam and I like the spirit of the company. However, I feel that most times they just brew big beers for the sake of brewing big beers. This one is an unusual beer using unusual ingredients for the sake of brewing with ingredients that have never been used in brewing. I wish that they would concentrate their efforts on brewing a good beer just for the sake of brewing a good beer. Leave all the hype behind. If the beer is good, it will create its own hype. Not everything needs a gimmick.
With that said, I do enjoy a few beers in their line up. A few.
And so what exactly makes this concept different then Pangea…
FTFY!
It’s a shame because there is some real talent there. I like 60 and 90 minute and the Indian brown is good. The Raison whatever is also very tasty. Oh and the flowers collaboration with sam Adams for Savor in DC This year was weird but good. Overall I can deal with the weirdness but seem to prefer their (relatively) traditional beers.
I mentioned this to my lovely wife and she just said, “marketing.”
I think Sam is a wizard at marketing and beer is just a fun hobby for him. It is nice to see someone doing the unusual on a national scale.
But isn’t that the AHA motto?
Their motto is off central ales of off central people.
Or something like that.
Does it translate to weird beer for weird people for us less educated?

Yeah, it’s actually ‘off centered’ which can mean out of the ordinary, not the norm, etc. so yeah, weird
Don’t drink too much of this one or you may experience beer googles, and regret it in the morning. :
beer got played by the underwear model. I like to drink beer made by those who relish making beer rather than money – the aroma/flavor of a pint o’ dollars just doesn’t do it for me.
I like the creative spirit of Dogfish. Always on the cutting edge of beer. No fear. It’s commendable in my book.
We can always go to our old standbys…but it’s nice to try new and creative recipe’s.
Kudos to DFH!

whatever’s good for the cause, i just hope your guys are on the right side. i’d love to see more brewing than talk and gimmicky stuff that only hurts the cause drives me nuts. i’m not denying - indian brown is awesome stuff
Sud surfing… Yup, Sam’s a marketer, gotta love it. Back to the best beer in the world…my own.

At least none of Dogfish’s beers are “vortex bottled” or “triple hops brewed.” You want to talk shameless, senseless marketing, look at the BMC crowd.
Sounds more like INKontinent. But to each his own.

So we should only hold ourselves up to the standards of the bmc crowd? On my 1-10 scale (just my opinion of course) bmc falls below the 1, they don’t even make the low end of the scale. I put dfh at about 5, which isn’t horrible but I know they could do way better. Less hype more brewing. cheers, j
I think it is interesting and Dogfish is finding a way to market its beers in a very unique way by partnering on these specialty beers. I don’t like all of what they brew, but I can’t say I have a problem with them pushing the envelope. And as most everyone notes - some of their beers are pretty good. Indian Brown comes to mind.
I agree. The “weird beers” they make just stimulate interest. It’s not like their regular beers are awful. I could drink 90 minute and Palo Santo Marron all day… If they weren’t so expensive. Myself, I don’t care fore Pangea, Chateau Jiahou and the rest, but it’s cool that they exist.
