i haven’t fired mine up in a couple of years, but around this time of year in times past you could see flames shooting high above my chimney from my first fire of the year chimney cleaning ;D (the easy and slightly scarier way)

The weather just turned abruptly here. An unseasonable 90F and tonight it’ll be in the 50’s. Will be cool and dry for the week. I need to change my AC filter. 
I’ve never heard winter referred to as a “she”. It’s always been Old Man Winter to me. So I think “he” is more appropriate in this case. Winter can be like a bitter old man, but I sure like it. Snow, gets dark early, cold; it’s so tranquil. Come home from work, get warm and cozy and have a beer or three. Hibernate. Hmmm, good name for a beer, Hibernation Ale. But Great Divide already took the name! Boo! Well, they don’t distribute to Iowa, so sorry for them. I’m using it for a homebrew!
Anyway, on topic, I really wish I had a fire place…it’d make winter even more amazing than it already is.

I used to have a straight steel pipe on the shop;
that baby would blow spruce tar sparks into to the night
blasting a prehistoric campfire out on to the milky way palette.

I’m in the same boat. This year I’m swabing the pipe, can’t afford the 3 bills to clean my chimney when I can do it in a afternoon. Better than a pipe junky can. I bet I can do a better job, seeeing I’m paranoid about fire. My life depends on how I clean this pipe. Sometimes you got to take resposibility.
