Has Beer as a whole declining?

I just read an aricle listing the decline of some major big beer brands over the past few years, and I was wondering if beer as whole consumed in the US is on the decline?

I know craft beer is very much on the rise as far as per capita consumptioon, but these are some pretty big numbers craft beer would have to make up for!

Articles I have read say yes. Beer sales, on a whole, is declining. Craft beer is picking up some of the lost sales from the biggies, but not at the same clip. I blame the hipsters and all of their fancy cocktails made with craft liquors.

I don’t blame the hipsters and their fancy cocktails. Its an aging population and fear of carbs.

In the US it has declined a little, wasn’t there a slight uptick last year?

Worldwide it is up IIRC, think China.

The last few years have seen a dramatic growth in both craft and homebrewing.  It’s inevitable that they can’t maintain that momentum.

I want everyone to know that I am personally doing my part to stop this decline. Now, if you will excuse me, I must get another beer.

That’s doing it at the grass roots level, one beer at a time. I salute your sacrifice.
