Hefe coopers can stalled fermentation.

Hi there

Just brewed 2 days ago Coopers Hefe can with thomas coopers 1.5kg wheat and barley liquid malt extract. Piched yeast at required temp. No activity on airlock or krausen much on the fermenter at all.

So I then added after 30 hrs another yeast packet but 15hrs into it no krausen or airlock activity either?

I understand airlock maybe faulty as seals might not be fully tight but no krausen muck gives me an impression there is something else thats not right.

I throughly sanitized everything before brewing also there is no off smell so far at all. What can I do now, wait for another 12 hrs?

Cheers

What yeast did you use and is it fresh? If you used the yeast that comes with those cans it is probably old and under suspect storage conditions.

After 45 hours since initial yeast pitch you should see something. Be careful when you check. Sounds like you know the basics, be very clean. What fermentation temp are you at?

Pitching temp as suggested on the packet 18-28 my temp was 22 for the first time on 2nd time my temp was 18 deg Celsius I used the packet that came with the kit. Dry yeast

To be honest i am not home right now to see any activity until later on

Hmm I fermented 2x 22 litre Hoegarden and Hefe it turned out both of them only bubble under heatpad other wise no bubble in Airlock. Current temp of the fermenter which wasn’t bubbling was 13 deg Celsius while the one started bubbling is at 22 deg Celsius. I only got 1 heat pad so I will bring the one inside the house

13C is a bit cold for Weissbier yeasts.
you want to target about 17C for that.

Ya it’s a bit cold lol I knew temperature was the issue thats why I swapped the heat pad to check if the yeast activity comes back or not which it did.
