My intention was to hop stand a couple of ounces into my 2 gallon at 170…completely forgot to do this until I was around 140. Should I just let it sit at that temp longer? Add more dry hops now vs. planned? Does it matter?
I don’t think you’ll notice much difference.
Yeah, I’d skip adding them that cool and take that amount of hops and add them to your dry hops.
I agree. You’ve lost the bitterness from the late hop at that temp. I say what the hell dry hop that baby maybe twice:)
I would have goosed the heat back up and done the hop stand. Dry hops aren’t the same, especially where flavor is concerned.
No arguments there. He seemed a bit flustered, so adding them as dry seemed like the easiest solution for him. I haven’t forgotten to add stand hops yet, but if I did I would probably reheat to 165F anyway.
