I’m on the North side the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State, and last night noticed my hops are starting to sprout. This will be year #4.
WooHoo, Spring is coming folks!!!

I just checked my hops last weekend and they aren’t showing any signs of growth just yet. Very soon though as the weather has been very mild here on the Mid-Atlantic Coast
Gotta remember to check mine.
I’m in sothern California and about two weeks ago I noticed that all my high alpha hops have some nice growth on them. The other ones not so much.
I thought Spring was already here then this damn snowstorm hit. Can’t complain…we’ve had 1 big storm in October ( yes October ) for 12" and about 7-12" expected for this storm today in NH. Everything in between has been 2" or less or rain.
I meant to check my hops the other day but forgot. My wife’s tulips had already started sprouting about a week ago…now they are buried under 7" of snow.
Thanks for the reminder! It’s way too early here, but with the winter we’ve had, I wouldn’t be that surprised to see them popping through.
I ordered some from freshops.com (zeus and cascade) and they will arrive Saturday…when my office is closed! >:( (I ship everything to the office).
I doubt I’ll have any luck, though. I’m not able to plant them under very good conditions: late afternoon sun, not morning sun like they say for planting them in southern climates, and in pots. But I figured I would try it anyway. :
Good luck with them. We gave up on a garden of any kind on our site. I planted a garden shed and it is doing very well in the spot our veggie garden used to be. 8^)

Here in So Cal, Magnum & Cascade are sprouting. The nugget is just getting started.
Nothing here in SE Michigan. Mine are away from the house, so it will be a while.
Just checked mine yesterday. No signs of anything yet, although it’s still been pretty consistently cold here. I’m not expecting anything for at least a few more weeks.
Just helped a friend prune his rhyzomes in exchange for 4 cascade, 6 centenial and 1 sterling rhyzome. still have to get them in the ground. his were starting to sprout a little (northern cali here)
I checked mine last weekend, no sign of anything yet. But I do have freaking barley growing in my potted plants.
Hrm, I’ll check mine when I get home. Put some fresh pine mulch down last weekend so it should be pretty easy to see when they start coming up. I really need to dig them up and space them better, though.
