In case you hadn’t noticed yet, hopsdirect and freshops seem to have their 2010 inventories most of the way up. I just ordered a reload of my freezer tallying to 10lbs of hops ;D.
Just FYI.

That’s nothing for you Paul…you should need to reorder before spring for sure. ;D
I did notice the 2010’s last week. I want to place an order very soon.
Haha - touché !
Call me when they get pellets posted, 30+ lbs of leaf was too space taken up this year.
I’ve been out of Saaz for a few weeks now and using Sterling instead, its not the same at all…
I like hops . . a lot. But I must admit I’m trying to figure out how you guys can go through 10 lbs. (or more) of hops a year?
Are you putting them in cheesecloth and hanging them from yer rear view mirror?
That’s 160 ounces! Still haven’t used all mine from 2009! They’re mostly high alpha so I better get after it…
I went thur a phase of hopbursting beers , many with 6-8oz in the last 20mins. and lets for get that pliny clone…
not really that hard, believe it or not. I make my IPA around 6 times per year (2-3 batches are for parties/club functions) - 15oz of hops per batch thats almost 6 pounds right there. I make my father in law’s beer for him 4-5 times a year, at 7oz a batch, theres another 2.
That’s only my two most frequently made recipes, if you figure I make 15-18 batches total a year, so lets say another 8 batches at an average of 5oz per batch, well there you go, that’s 165 ounces.
My latest newly designed IPA is using a whole lb of Cascade hops in a 10 gallon batch.
I recieved my hopsdirect order in and need to suppliment them with some smaller
one ounce purchases to taylor to some recipies I want to try…but man I got hops.
I put em in quart jars and vacuum sealed em in the freezer…hope they last a long time…
They will. But you’ll find reason to use them.
I think I’ve determined that one can never have enough hops. ;D
Hopsdirect still doesn’t have Chinooks pellets
I’ve got over 30 lb. of hops in my freezer. I think I’ve got enough…for now, anyway!
Wow Denny… :o
That’s quite a load.
That’s what… about 30 five gallon batches.
On the right side of the page it has said that the pellets would be released in Nov. It is now November, so they should be out soon. The pelletizers are fired up once the crop is harvested. As I understand it, they fill the contracts first, then they put hops on the spot market.
I am waiting for some of the European hops to show up on their page.
I’m still waiting to see EKG’s. I probably have ~ 18 lbs of hops in the freezer. SWMBO keeps putting FOOD in my hop freezer…sheesh.
Bob, yes I want a pound of EKG cone hops. Used a whole pound+ in a historic English IPA last year. Aged it for 10 months then dry hopped. It had a couple of brewing mistakes, but turned out to be a really good beer. Want to do it again without the mistakes.
I second that motion. I need some 2010 EKG’s…
I read somewhere- don’t have anything to cite- that EKG’s are rapidly vanishing due their acreage being diminished in England.
Used to mix Fuggs and EKG. What a combination!
