I used to live in the Heights. A lot has changed since I was there but here are some suggestions:
Beer:
Eureka Heights, St. Arnold, Brash, SpindleTap
Food:
We don’t have Trochy’s Tacos so I have to get some whenever I’m close. If you want Birria, Dona Leti’s.
Fill up a pizza pan of tasty Mexican pastries at El Bolillo Bakery for cheap.
Get kolaches from somewhere, I suggest Kolache Shoppe.
BBQ - Pinkerton’s
Bring some fresh tortillas from HEB back to enjoy later.
