I’ll be offering a 5 night/6 day course called “The Craft of Beer & Brewing” through the non-profit organization Whitehead Light Station off the coast of Maine July 27-August 1. The setting is stunning, situated at the southwestern mouth of Penobscot Bay on Whitehead Island. Accommodations and meals are in the very comfortable and completely renovated “Keeper’s Station.”
I’ll lead discussions, tastings, presentations about brewing beer, tasting beer, cooking with beer, the history of beer, and simply enjoying beer… and much more. It’s a five-night, six-day course (four full days on the island). Lots of informal socializing, recreational activities, great meals and huge variety of beers. Visit nearby Maine breweries. Also free time to explore the island and nearby Maine environment. It’s “significant other” friendly environment if mixing education and a vacation is what you may be looking for.
Program is limited to 12 participants.

If you want links to stories and photos I’ve published on Examiner.com about the 2011, 2010 and 2009 beer programs on the island, email me directly.
p.s. There is no foghorn, except for perhaps the beer.
Charlie “The Complete Joy of Homebrewing” was the first brewing book I ever read-- way back in 1993! I can’t plan that far ahead this year but if there are any other courses in the future I would be honored to attend.
Thanks for your contributions to “our” obsession.
I would be open to offering my brewery and area up for the second Annual Craft of Beer and Brewing course. Just saying.
Hey Charlie - let’s do one here on Hawaii Island.
