I think my keg broke.....

I came home from work tonight, pulled myself a beer and went to sit on the deck and enjoy the unseasonably nice weather we are having. I finished my first beer, and went to get pull a second. Halfway through filling my glass I got nothing but foam and hiss… I think I broke it…

;D

Now I have to drink off the other tap.

Yup, it’s broke. The repair procedure it to rinse and sanitize it, then refill with 5 gallons of fresh beer… ;D

That repair is temporary though, I have tried a more permanent solution but eventually fall back on this
process. The failure of the keg itself is usually short lived…I would say the perpetual attempts to fix it
are tiring at times but well worth the effort.

I, too have encountered this problem. I have found that adding a bit of whisky or port into the mix can help fix the problem temporarily.

or have plenty of back ups in waiting, as  one breaks another takes his place

Or, it may just be that you are over stressing an undersized keg. If you go full barrel the problem should become less frequent.

I have another Rye Ale that is almost ready. I think I will take Oscar’s advice and fill the empty with it this weekend. I think I will also brew a batch just in case another keg gets broke.

Yeah…I seem to have the same problem on all of my kegs.  8)
