i'm brewing a beer for a movie

a pal of mine is the executive producer for a new movie, ‘artists die best in black’…

eric roberts (julia’s brother) is one of the principals in the movie.  i haven’t met him yet.  billy badalato is the producer.  he also did alien:resurection and top gun.

he was in my office and i mentioned that it would be cool if they had some black ipa at one of their parties (he loves hoppy beers).  he was a homebrewer a couple decades ago and he has tried some of mine recently.  he got pretty excited about the idea and we talked a few moments.

he stopped back by the office yesterday to let me know that they were actually going to use the beer in a scene from the movie in addition to having it for the wrap party. they even have an artist to design a label for each beer.

i’m brewing a single black ipa for the shoot and wrap party and for the release, we are going to have a single black and a double black ipa.

not quite 15 minutes of fame, but still pretty cool.

Nice!  Congrats!

Dave

Very nice! Keep us posted when it comes out.

That is pretty cool!

As long as you wait until July 1st to brew it

Congrats!!

Awesome! Congratulations! Is this going to be a major production movie? Not straight to DVD?

Congrats !  That is awesome.

And to think we knew you before knowing you was cool

Wow, really cool!

Cool!  I would probably crack under the pressure and the beer would be infected!

it’s never happened to me, so it probably will on this beer.

Congrats!  Good luck with that Black IPA.

I think homebrewed beer is currently a pretty hot commodity in the movie industry, at least in some circles.  My twin brothers co-directed an independent feature, “Winter in the Blood”, their second feature movie that is based on the first novel of a close family friend, and it will premiere at the L.A. Film Festival next month.  The Montana Film Commission is hosting a party for them after the first showing, and I heard they had someone brew some kind of a wheat beer for the party.

nice!

i brewed the beer this weekend and it’s fermenting as we speak.

*1

Congrats! I’d say it’s even BETTER than 15 minutes!

Very cool!  Hope it turns out great!

i brewed another ipa and a double ipa last night, so i have 15 gallons fermenting.

the executive producer is coming by today so we can talk timeline for when they need to be ready so i can decide when to begin to dry hop and bottle.

the imdb link for the film…    Mississippi Murder (2017) - IMDb

they just announced the guy who will be playing the main character…

Malcolm McDowell

how awesome is that…

the female lead role will be played by Hani Furstenberg!

Malcolm McDowell plays evil well.

Depending on the size of the cast and crew, you may need more than 6 cases… But congrats on the opportunity.  Also glad to see that your local laws allow it to be shared so openly!

Might be nice to do a Wheat for the people that will not drink DARK BEERS :frowning:
