In one of my earlier posts

In one of my earlier posts, I wrote that arborfab.com made my hop spider per my design, but that they screwed-up the way I wanted the hangers welded to the top ring of the thing. I asked that the five-inch fingers of the thing be on the outside and going vertically downward, while the short fingers were to be on the inside and to be hung over the lip of my eight-gallon kettle. They got it backwards-- twice. I thought I was torpedoed. Fortunately, I figgered-out that I could do what is depicted. Now, all I need is the time to actually make some beer.

This bad boy is beautifully-made. Just seventy-some bucks. arborfab.com will make anything you want; hop spiders are listed as “beer filters” on their website. Lead-time wasn’t that bad, either. If you should ever order a spider from them, include this picture as to how you DON’T want the finished product to come-out. Better design would be to just have the five-inch fingers on the outside and the horizontal things to be just long enough to allow a little bit of knock for the spider once it’s in the kettle and in its final position.
