Inexpensive analysis

Looks interesting…

Sounds like something that could be used for competition brewers in terms of staying within style guidelines and searching out flaws…(at least diacetyl, if your palate is not sensitive to it).  But realistically, I don’t see a lot of guys flocking to it.  Now, if the tools were made available as a DIY project, that’s another story…the same folks would spend hundreds on it.

But it is interesting, I agree on that.

I intend to use it so I can see how close my calculations come to reality.

Good find Denny. The folks growing lots of hops are going to love the affordable alpha beta testing.
Thanks for posting. We were talking about this very thing at last nights club meeting.

Very nice.  I’ve had a number of samples analyzed by Hop Union but their prices went up earlier this year.  Looks like I’ll have to give this a try.

Man, I followed the link expecting a cut rate therapist. But I guess that’s cool too.

I like the hint… when shipping “yeast”

I’ve used these guys before… decent turn around time. I’ve also tested them side by side with the HopUnion IBU analysis and they were within 10% of each other.

So you send them your beer and some money? Where do I get a job like that?

Thanks, Denny! I have a brew I wanted to get tested for IBU’s, but Alpha Analytics never responded to my email to their support so I was kind of leery about sending them my beer.

For those of you who have had samples tested, how did you ship them? Did you just send them a 12oz bottle?

There’s a page showing how much they need for each test.

You can send me beer and money.

That may be what homebrewers REALLY need!

and all this while I thought this forum WAS group therapy!
