I am a 74 year old who generally frequents the gun forums as I shoot targets for a hobby. My eyes are getting too bad to see the sight picture any more. Thus I need a new hobby.
I’ve decided to brew up some hard cider. As a newbie my supply of BTF iodophor was becoming depleted.
I ordered a bunch of supplies from one of the brew supply houses. One of the items I ordered was idophor.
What the supplier sent me was BLC (beer line cleaner). It has a dilution rate totally different from idophor.
Did they just screw up the order or is the beer line cleaner supposed to be a substitute?? I’m so new at this that I don’t know. I await your help. My 1 gallon of cider has been bubbling the air lock for 8 days. Thanks for the help.
No, not at all a substitute. BLC is a caustic cleaner, BTF Iodophor is a sanitizer. Be very careful with the BLC if you do keep it; it’s extremely corrosive, especially undiluted.
a10t2: Thanks a million. I’m gonna ring em’ up soon and complain. They made the mistake, not me.
